[8.165][BUG][CLOSED] URL Filtering

Hi, I'm going to try to explain this a clear as possible.... sorry if I don't accomplish my goal. [;)]

Under 'Web Security->Web Filtering->URL Filtering' there is a box 'Additional URLs/sites to allow' where you can add URL's you want to be allowed for everyone.  As far as I can read in the help it looks like this over rides other settings.  Here is a quote from the help screen:

"Additional URLs/Sites to Block: If you want to block a specific URL or website regardless of its category, enter it here. This has the effect that websites listed here can be blocked even if they belong to a category you want to allow. Regular expressions are allowed here (e.g. ^https?://.*wikipedia.org). To block exactly one URL enter the complete URL (e.g. Wikipedia). Note that expressions such as wikipedia.org do not only match the URL but also search results and parts of similar URLs which may lead to unwanted blocking behavior.
Note that this option changes to Additional URLs/Sites to Allow if the first option on the page is set to Block."

I have set the option to 'Block' so the bolded section applies to me and I would suspect the logic works oppositely.  In my proxy profiles for my kids I block 'GamesGambling' which blocks addictinggames.com so to allow access I thought I could just add addictinggames.com to the 'Additional URLs/Sites to Allow' box.  This doesn't work as expected, I have to go to each individual proxy profile and enable access.  This isn't a big deal for me as I don't have many profiles but in a commercial installation this could be a bit of a problem.

Am I correct regarding how this should work?  I seems to me that box should allow me to add access for everyone, saving me the work of giving access to each profile.

You almost had me convinced till you mentioned proxy profiles. The profiles are exactly as the name implies different profiles and act differently independent of the main proxy settings (specially in cases of content filtering etc).

I see your point about having to define each profile but that is what granular control does for you. They probably should add something in the fallback action of the profile to inherit rules from the main proxy settings. But I bet that falls under feature request [;)]

What Billybob said.
As an alternative you can create an exception for URL-Filtering matching specific URLs. Exceptions are global and work for all profiles.
