V8.165 delayed again

Hi everyone,

we have to delay the V8.165 for yet another week. The main reason is, that we do not want to release a version without a fix for the random restart issue, but there are other (though smaller) problems as well. By the way: with ~180 issues, this will be one of the larger releases.

I'll write a short note on Monday evening for the new release date.

As always, if you have questions, please feel free to ask.

    When it is ready. 

    Per the first post in this thread they are working to resolve a big reboot issue and 8.165 will not be released until this is fixed.

    Also as in the first post, a new tentative release date will be posted on the evening of Monday 30 May by kbr and not before.

    There is absolutely no point is asking for release dates during betas.  When Astaro knows, they ALWAYS post the information.  If they don't know yet, then they won't be able to say.

    Thanks for bringing it to the point. 

    I guess the main problem is that, from an outside view, Astaro is just one single opaque thing. This isn't the case. In reality, we're just a bunch of people, each of us with a different task, different priorities and a slightly different view on the release schedule. We try to keep the bureaucratic overhead as small as possible, but we need to talk a lot to synchronize our efforts, and the more complex the problem is, the more time we need to find the right balance. While most of the developers are trying to get their features into the release, my main concern is to get a more and more stable version out to you. Everyone here agrees that the 4 week gap between 8.164 and 8.165 has been much too long, but on the other hand we also agree that we need to get that reboot thing fixed before releasing.

    Who would have thought it? The guys working at Astaro are just human beings... [;)]
