just a short note to inform you about the upcoming changes on the Application Control feature.
The Application Control feature is, as you all know, a completely new addition to the feature set of the ASG and, as with every new feature, there are some problems. One of our main concerns regarding this feature is currently the integration into the product as whole, and especially the integration of the Application Control with the HTTP proxy.
We are currently working on bringing these two components much more closer together than they have been in the previous versions, which we hope will eliminate a lot of corner cases affecting the detection of protocols. It will also allow us to simplify the error handling and bring up "content blocked"-like pages in the browser - after all, we think that web-based protocols and applications will make up the major part of use cases.
Since these efforts require a quite large change in the back end of the ASG, it doesn't make much sense to test the current implementation (8.164). So,

Will the GUI be affected?
No, it will look the same as before.
What about the traffic/flow monitor?
It will stay the same too, but we hope that the reported results are much more accurate.
