[8.163][BUG][FIXED] DHCP or licence not counting iP addresses

Do you see any related error messages in the dhcp logfile? Please take a look at the system and fallback log to.

Oh, and what exactly do you mean by "My licence count shows no licences"? Does the webadmin display an error message?

I don't know exactly what I am looking for other than none of the network elements are assigned an IPV6 address. Occasionally an address appears in one of the reports, but never in the assigned list or licence count under 8.163.

I do have problem with IPv6 address allocation, because unless you get a uid in the DHCP reservation list you can't create a static allocation and I am not getting address assignments to create static entries from.
So, from then on I can't have IP address appear in the reports with their resolved or assigned static DNS entry.

Hi Kai,
there was one IPv6 request, because I had tried to assign a static address outside of the dynamic range, but the server doesn't like it.

I have a number of devices which are all IPv6 capable, but do not show up as having an address.
Some of them use the wireless which does not appear to be IPv6 aware.

you are right with the wireless, it's not as IPv6-capable as we'd like it to be. I know that the guys in the wireless-team are discussing this, but i don't know what they will come up with.

Regarding your IPv6-problem: i have to ask Ulrich tomorrow to take a look at this, he's much deeper involved in the whole topic than i am.

can you ping ipv6 addresses from the ASG itself and can you ping ipv6 addresses from your clients?

Note: Wireless AP can only communicate via IPv4 with the ASG. However IPv6 over WLAN works fine, Clients can get IPv6 addresses from the ASG via WLAN.

update. The licence count is now showing devices.

I have changed the DHCP range of one of the IPv6 servers and it still allocates an address which is now outside of its range. The address does not show up in the IPv6 address allocation table.

Now sixxs have fixed my tunnel I can test from the PC. I can connect to the sixxs site using IPv6.

My MAC Book Pro does not pickup an IPv6 via the wireless. It is set for "Automatic" with both IPv4 and IPv6

MacOSX does NOT support DHCPv6, please use Prefix Advertisement or
open an Apple support ticket [:)]

Licensing counts only active devices, so only IPv4 and IPv6 addresses which
were used for connections are counted.

If you change the IPv4 or IPv6 address on an interface, the DHCP v4 and v6
configuration is NOT changed. You have to change the DHCP configuration afterwards too...

Hi Ulrich,
I changed the address IPv6 range the ASG is to use to allocate addresses.

I released/renewed the on the PC concerned and it did not get a new address, the existing address it uses was not showing up in any of the tables and the error I posted appeared in the DHCP log.

My MAC shows it has the capability of obtaining an IPv6 address automatically. I will followup with Apple.
