Ah, this one is funny. my coworkers already knew about this one, but their entry in the bugtracking system (Mantis #17457) was written in a way that didn't ring the bell in my head...
The mistake is, that you see these entries at all, they should have never been visible. These entries exist to flag locally generated tunnel traffic that has no effect on forwarded packets.
