[8.162][NOTABUG][CLOSED] Smarthost Relay (Outbound)

Has anyone else had any problems with outbound mail not being forwarded using the Astaro Smarthost relay? After reverting back to the stable version 8.1xx, the mail working with no problems. BTW with the smarthost I am using a different port than 25.

They have converted the smarthost to a dns hostname. I had a problem with the relay not getting converted correctly. Look in your system logs for any messages related to your smarthost. Also try manually reassigning the smarthost and see if it helps. If it does then the problem is in the conversion. If not, this might be a different bug because you are using a non standard smtp port.

Bill,

Tried to manually reassign the smarthost again to see if it would fix the problem and there was no change. Also looked at the logs and it seams that the relay is trying to send the messages directly to the intended destination without using the smarthost but I could be miss reading the SMTP logs. There are entries in the Mail Manager SMTP log which is showing the SMTP relay DNS name being resolved to an IP address. Not sure if the two logs coincide or if this will help in the troubleshooting. Let me know if you want a copy of the SMTP logs.

Hi Griff,
there are 2 spots, one for normal mail users and the other for notifications.

Which one are you having trouble with, user mail or ASG notifications?

The area I am having problems is with normal user mail. Notifications are not a problem once I reconfigured the service. I will have to start up the beta version of the software and run some test emails to gather some update log files. I am testing in a VM environment and I had revert back to 8.1xx to send email messages. I will have to post the logs tomorrow. Apologize for the delay.

Apologize for not responding sooner. Something came up that pulled me away from conducting any testing at all. Now that I have some time, I performed a clean install of 8.163 and for the moment the relay problem resolved itself. Not sure if this was an error on my part or a bug that worked itself out. Just as an FYI, when I installed the latest version I used the configuration file from the previous version.
