[8.161][BUG][CLOSED] Streaming

Hi,  This thread relates to MantisID: 16970 which was addressed in the 8.161 release.  We are almost there [:)], the strange characters are gone and SHOUTcast streams seem to be working fine.  There is however an issue with ICEcast streams [:(].  There is a blip or drop out every few seconds.

Here are some sites to try.  In Winamp just use Open/URL.

(These work fine)

(These have a blip every few seconds during playback)

Just a note, in version 8.103 and prior versions this worked perfectly.  Was the proxy rewritten?

    Hi,
    the two you have a problem with never actually stram, the first one plays like it is a short burst of music then stops and nothing happens.

    the aac never actually convinces itunes that it is streaming music.

    I have streaming musing playing from a number of sources and don't see any of those issues.

    You might check your PF and http logs to see if there are any messages indicating a problem with those streams.

    The first three play in Winamp, Windows Media Player, and Media Monkey fine for me, I don't use iTunes.  There does seem to be a problem with the fourth URL.... anyway, that link is from Home :: 1.FM - The Music Starts Here and they seem to use ICEcast for the 80's channels and probably others.

    When I was using 8.001 thru to 8.103 all of these streams played perfectly.  Since moving to the beta they are now having issues with play back.  This same issue exists with Squid-Cache proxy and any firewall that uses Squid-Cache.  I tried many firewalls and did some googling to finally find the reason it was happening.  In my search for a firewall that would do this I found Astaro.  I tested Astaro and to my amazement the problem was gone.  [:)]

    Update: Looks like Squid-cache 3.1.x has support now.... finally.

    The "hickups" and blibs should be gone with 8.162 now. SvenS traced it down to an additional Header in the Response body and improved the way that we handle this.

    We cannot reproduce the blips with both icecast streams above here with our current V8.162.

    I know this must not have been a high priority since it is probably not used in business much... I very much appreciate your efforts.

    Hey, wait.... I am using 8.162 ?????  SHOUTcast streams work great for me but ICEcast streams still have the blips.
