Beta Release 8.161: Release and Download Information

Hi.

Today we released the first update for the 8.200 Beta. Aside from a lot of fixes for issues identified by our brave beta testers (see below), we also had some small feature additions:

Weighted Balancing for Uplink and Server Balancing

For both Uplink Balancing (i.e. Interfaces & Routing >> Interfaces >> Uplink balancing) and Server Load Balancing (i.e. Network Security >> Server Load Balancing) you can now define different weights for the different interfaces/servers.

This means that if you have e.g. two DSL lines which are both defined as Active Interfaces, but which have different maximum throughput, you can tell ASG now to prefer the "bigger" line while still using both.

The weight can be configured via the wrench icon appearing in the header of the interface/server list.

Note that if you give a server/interface a weight of 0% it will only be used if all other servers/interfaces are disabled. (For uplink balancing this doesn't really make any sense, just configure the interface as Standby Interface)

Safe search enforcement in HTTP Proxy

You can configure HTTP Proxy now so that it enforces the safe search flags of three major search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo). You can find the setting under Web Security >> HTTP/S Proxy >> URL Filtering.

Other notable changes

All drivers for Intel network cards were updated to the latest versions published by Intel.
