Hello Friends !

I am using 3com's wireless "smart" wireless router .
I am using this wireless router in client mode , "Client Mode — Allows a device with an Ethernet port to connect to a wireless network"

i am able to connect to internet and its working Fine!,but i think there are some issues
1) wireless Security >>wireless client is show online show Mac address but ip is "unknown "
2)it change its Tx rate if signal is down (for 60-70 it show 34 Mbir ,for 50-60 it show 24 Mbit )
3)connected time is always show 00:00 this show even with latptop and nintendo (they are showing mac and ip )
4)on ASG 'DHCP >>lease table it show mac address of pc device where this wireless device is connect ,in this case can i configure static binding for ip ?
5 (question )should i use this as a wireless device to test BETA ? which mode Encryption Mode u recommand in general,which mode should i use bridge to AP or separate zone

Do you see the IP address in the DHCP lease table?

2)it change its Tx rate if signal is down (for 60-70 it show 34 Mbir ,for 50-60 it show 24 Mbit )

The transmit rate modulation is dependent on a huge number of factors and especially the "signal strength". So it is completely correct to adjust the tx rate based on the signal strength and other influencing factors.

3)connected time is always show 00:00 this show even with latptop and nintendo (they are showing mac and ip )

Known issue.

4)on ASG 'DHCP >>lease table it show mac address of pc device where this wireless device is connect ,in this case can i configure static binding for ip ?

Sure, we're happy to have a good diversity of wireless devices to be tested.

Normally I'd always prefer separate zone just because all wireless clients appear as if they were in an own network segment.

Regarding the encryption mode:
- Never ever use WEP, it's fundamentally broken
- Use WPA or WPA2 or mixed mode
- If all your clients can handle CCMP (=AES) use it
- Allow TKIP only if if is really necessary

Today i configure all 3 device with static ip binding  3com is set for 172.x.x105
till yesterday it was detecting as 172.x.x.104

is that known issues was reported  by other member it ok other wise u can make is as a DUPLICATE so i will get some point [[[:D]]] and if it it already reported by other use keep it as it is other wise this will be DUPE  [[[:D]]][[[:D]]]

as this is a question i will again top on who had ask most questions [:$]

is my current configuration is secure and correct and recommended as i have added all 3 known device to proxy and IPS and dns ..etc...
do u see my observation correct towards device with wireless network using sub (/24) and adding device  individually or on network group  (with all 3 device )give better signal and better speed is correct

And 00:11:11:4a:65:b9 is the 3com wifi device?

When i use wireless network (172.16.28.0/24) in IPS ,http/s proxy,email .vpn .etc i am getting less signal and less bandwidth but when i use individual device (laptop,Nintendo,3com wireless)(indiviusal object in http/s ,ips,mail so on ) ) or group of this 3 device (create network group with this 3 device ) in the IPS ,http/s,email,vpn etc i am getting better bandwidth and more speed (at least it show in wireless status )

Understood, however, I assume this is just by coincidence. The tx rate for example is selected for each sent frame and for example if using a fast rate ends in a number of failed transmissions the APs will select a different rate. So, the tx rate always fluctuates depending on external factors like interference.

Ok, so I assume the 3com thing doesn't even request an IP and just acts as a media converter 802.3->802.11. Hence, I'd say it's correct to not see the IP in webadmin.

I think i am doing something wrong or there is some problem with seperate zone configuration in this beta can u please confirmed what i am doing wrong
1)i have connected astaro wireless AP to normal switch
2)when i connect is bridge mode that time i connect AP to lan card on asg
3)with sepeate zone i am able to reach till AP get activated (show 1 ap on )
4)i have configure dhcp on internal interface
5)i am able to see wirelesss device on laptop but i am not getting dhcp ip address to client

what other change i have to make from AP bridge to seprate zone
AP bridge works on layer 2 and sperate zone on layer 3 ?
when i should consider using AP bridge and seprate zone
Sorry this is not a beta related but this will help me and others also

so let it be question but give me some points for asking smart question [[:D]][[:D]]

AP bridge works on layer 2 and sperate zone on layer 3 ?

Seperate zone means that the wifi traffic is tunneled to the ASG and ends up in its _own_ interface (called wlan0-wlan7). Did you configure a DHCP server for that interface?

Hello Helmut !

I was wrong when i say i was able to get wireless signel but not able to get dhcp now i understood the half way now i a using seprate zone and "NOW" i have added new wlan0 interface from interface now where i suppose connect wireless AP's ethernet cable (which interface or to another new switch or which switch ?)
i have created DHCP on this sepeate zone

while setup bridge to ap we use  nic from asg in this case what we suppose to use ?
or just connect wireless AP to which switch (as i am using seprate switch for lan and dmz )

I am sorry i am taking u r time to understand basic setup in beta

please .....

Now there are 5 interface  (internal,wan,dmz,sepratewireleszone,wireless (this wireless is bridge to AP  lan))

now i am not getting AP  in pending AP, inactive AP ,active AP

In order to get a separate zone network up and running you have to do the following:

- Connect the AP via eth to the ASG on the interface (ethX) you think is most appropriate
- Add that ethX interface to the list of allowed interfaces (Wireless Security -> Global Settings in webadmin), this allows the AP to connect to the ASG
- Create a wireless network with seperate zone mode
- Configure the new wlanX interface (Interfaces & Routing -> Interfaces in webadmin)
- Create a DHCP server for this wifi interface (Network Services -> DHCP in webadmin)

Now you should have a working wifi setup.

Sorry still no luck i am able to get dhcp address from wifizone (192.168.100.x )
i am not able to browse the internet but i am able to ping from support>>tools
i have added wifizone (separate zone )and wireless network 172.16.28.x in all proxy /ips

do i have to use same ip range for wireless network and separate zone ?
