[8.160][BUG][OPEN] Log Manager Report

The log manager report viewer on the remote log management  site incorrectly asserts that "Acrobat Viewer" is required to view a pdf and fails saying Acrobat Viewer is not Installed.

Please add support for open source software such as evince or simply have it forward the PDF for download vs incorrectly asserting  Acrobat Viewer is somehow required to read a PDF and then failing.

    Please post a screenshot. I just uninstalled Acrobat from my system to test this and it offers to download the report as an unknown file type. 
     
    I get the feeling that what you are seeing is being generated by your OS or browser, anything involving MIME types happens locally (on your computer). Web sites neither know, nor care what programs you have installed (with the possible exception of some runtime type web content display programs such as flash for example). You may just have to register your pdf viewer program with the pdf MIME type.

    I have uploaded a screen shot, perhaps the problem is with firefox; it is just that I have never had this happen before. I even went to some sites with PDF's after this to make sure, so this would be the first site I have encountered where things go wrong and no PDF is sent.   

    If the bug ends up being in firefox or between screen and the chair I apologize for the invalid bug report.

    Ok, the problem is not with astaro,  google chrome is able to use /opt/google /chrome/libpdf.so and that simply triggers on application/pdf so the problem is most likely not yours, sorry [:D]

    What OS and Browserversion do you use? Maybe we can reproduce it here... and maybe we should change the term "Acrobat Viewer" too...

    Debian 6.0 , Firefox version:  Firefox 4 rc1 / mozilla-2.0

    I can reproduce this with Firefox 3.16.15 on Debian too. My guess is that this is related to the Flash-Component that Debian ships, ie. swfdec/gnash instead of the Adobe Flash player. Chrome comes with a bundled version of Adobes version of Flash, so it makes perfect sense if it works with chrome but doesn't work with Firefox...

    Can you please surf with both browsers to Plugin Check and tell me what version of flash is detected?

    I believe you are correct, gnash in firefox,   I am going to say that embedding the PDF in the flash unwise for maximum compatibility.  

    You could implement a workaround, maybe a direct link to the PDF for download if any sort of error occurs instead of the current message. 

    Or [trying to do my part to get Astaro off the flash drug] you could use something like html5 instead of flash, it would fix the incompatibility problems . I am sure any user trying to access the log manager from an iphone, ipad, or FLOSS desktop would benefit.

    Alright, 

    So chrome reported adobe 10.2 and firefox gnash 0.8.8

    However, I deiced to try to isolate a bit more and replaced chromes plug in gnash, so now they are both using gnash 0.8,8  and the problem is still present.

    Yet the exact same thing happens , firefox get's told no and chrome works.
