[8.160][NOTABUG][CLOSED] Users showing as IP's under reporting

Hi All

When I go to Reporting->Web Security then select "Web usage report" and "user" report , under the user column there are no usernames listed, only IP's

I have DNS (forward/reverse) defined for the IP/users

User Authentication (Windows Client) for Policies and Reporting

With the new Astaro Authentication Client (AAC) for Windows users can directly authenticate to the ASG.
This has two advantages:

Reporting will display user names instead of raw IPs if possible
You can use User Network and Group Network objects in e.g. packetfilter rules and they will only match for logged in users

(You can get similar benefits from a combination of static DHCP and DNS mappings, but with probably much more effort)

See Users >> Client Authentication for the configuration. You can also download the client there or in User Portal.
You can also use this authentication for the HTTP proxy, choose Transparent Client Authentication as operation mode.

So, unless you have installed the Authentication client, there will be IPs instead of usernames.

you are right, I haven't used it yet as release notes say :

I have static DHCP and DNS mappings. I will start using the "client authentication" and report back

Hi

I have installed AAC on my box (logged in as well) but the report still shows the ip instead of the user as I am getting a socket error

this all boils down to the same problem with a backend component on the ASG that will be fixed in the next version.
