[8.160][BUG][FIXED] Internet Radio Streaming

Hi all,

I'm new here but have been running an Astaro ASG v8 for several months.  After trying out several products this one really caught my attention... I love the product.

I loaded the Beta because I love to play.  I restored my ASG backup and was up and running in no time.  I like what I see.

Anyway, to the issue.  My first show stopper is Internet radio streaming via proxy (port 8080).  It worked flawlessly with 8.1xx but with the beta I am getting the same issue I had with any Squid Proxy based product... a blip in the audio steam every few seconds.  I know this is caused by the ShoutCast info that is embedded in the stream and I can get rid of it if I change a WinAmp setting.  If you change the setting all the song information disappears (not ideal).

I also seem to get some weird junk when starting any playlist.  See attached image and corresponding proxy error message.  I checked my HTTP/S Profiles and Internet radio streaming is allowed.  I can't get the station to play.

Hi Paul, and welcome to the show! Nice to hear that you like our product ;-)

Can you give me a little bit more information about that embedded shoutcast info that you mentioned? Something that i can give the proxy developers to take a look at? It would also be helpful if you could provide us with an URL where you were able to see these hiccups.

Regarding the weird characters: From the log fragment it looks like you have activated some content filtering and that there's something blocked (due to being "Adult" stuff). Can you take a look at your config and see if there's a relation?

To really find out what happens here, it would be nice if you could tell us what OS/Version you are using, what version of Winamp, and maybe point us to the playlists where this happens?

Hi,

This happens on Vista or XP using Winamp 5.5 or 5.6 (That Is all I have here), so multiple machines.  This did work great on 8.001 - 8.102.  I checked my HTTP/S Profiles and they look OK.  Same profiles on the older Astaro work fine.

   see 17. Shoutcast does not use HTTP, it's using ICY which is similar to HTTP but is not the same.

You can find stations at Home :: 1.FM - The Music Starts Here and SKY.FM Radio | Enjoy amazing Free Internet Radio stations (for sky.fm you need to configure it to play MP3's by going to Help/configure Player.

I'm having issues consistently creating the weird characters, so I'll settle for fixing the audio blip until I figure out that one.

Hi Paul,

we've been able to reproduce the problem here. Looks like we accidentally stripped an additional header that is embedded in the Shoutcast stream. Svens has already fixed it, and i think the fix will be released with the next version of the beta (ie. next week).

I'm not a 100% sure, but i think that the problem with the weird characters is related, so maybe it's best if you just wait and try again with the next beta release.
