[8.065][QUESTION][ANSWERED] about the Wireless MAC address issue

Hi,
over the last week I have built a new ASG and then decided that my older version was just as good and reverted to it, a fresh install each time. Cleaned the BIOS config and power consumption dropped on the older box.

The MAC address of my AP30 has remained the same for each rebuild and restart. I have a DNS and static entry for the AP30.

Question, what is needed to test the MAC address change?

  • The MAC you are looking at is the device's MAC; when you define WLANs on the device, a new "virtual" MAC is created for each WLAN gateway (this is different from the one you have reserved in DHCP for the physical device itself); that is what was changing at every reboot.  The latest Beta up2date seems to have fixed that, though.
