[8.050][QUESTION][ANSWERED] Creating Wifi Net creates itf with unassigned hardware

if anything it's the naming that is inconsistent here [[:)]]
When you create a Wireless Network, you are actually creating a hardware interface which can then be used on the Interfaces page to tie interface parameters (like IP addresses and such) to the hardware.

First time I activated wireless through wireless wizard it did create a network interface with device assigned to wlan0 which is fine... then I deleted wireless network and disabled wireless... then I activated wireless feature again and added manually a new wireless network which did created a new interface but with unassigned device ! Should not the wlan0 interface automatically selected? like for first setup? (I can at least edit interface and assign wlan0 to it).

Actually, you didn't delete the Interface in the first place. You deleted the interface hardware, and if you do that the interface remains in the state "unassigned". The wlan interface hardware is removed, but the configuration stays in place so it can be reactivated again later when you assign a new hardware to it. This is the same for every type of interface (e.g., ethernet interfaces). 

When you again create a wireless hardware, it is not obvious that you want it to be tied to specific interface parameters again. Interface parameters are not hardware specific, it could also be left over from (now missing) ethernet hardware. It would be possible to just grab the next unassigned interface and tie it to your new interface hardware, but this would not be a good idea because this is not necessarily the network you want to be broadcasted into the air. Since you would have to create new interface parameters for the Wireless Network anyway, being able to edit the existing Interface parameters actually saves you time and is IMO more obvious (and secure).

edit1: even with unassigned device to network interface, in the wireless network list it shows "blabla (on wlan0)" which is also inconsistency

I think this is consistent. The wireless network implicitly creates the interface hardware 'wlan0', which is then reserved for this wireless network. It just won't be configured in your ASG unless you also assign interface parameters to it. If you think this is confusing, it would also be possible to name it "blabla (on Separate Zone)", but then you would not be able to visually tell networks apart which are having the same name and SSID (which is currently possible).

Yes perfect andreas... this was just the names which was confusing into the wireless network list to me... maybe you should simply not add "on wlan0" until the device is not assigned for the given interface.. or simply use the interface name instead of device name? and show something that device is not yet assigned while in wireless network list... so we can see quickly that not everything is configured yet...

this last check could be done when we try to activate the network? some popup saying that device is not assigned for the given interface or so...?
