I had almost exact the same problem with v7 too: IM/P2P Settings - Controlled Networks: Internal, P2P Control: Block all, Exceptions: none, Advanced - Control skip-list: one host who should be able to use torrent. If I try to download a .torrent file the connection times out. In v7 the IM/P2P Classifier log showed a P2P Rule: Bittorrent block but in v8 not any more. If I disable the P2P Control, download a .torrent file, enable the control again and then start the torrent client the download works, so it seems the exception works but somehow the .torrent files can't get through ASG.
Can you give us a little more information: What software do you use to download the .torrent file, what software do you use as the torrent client, on what platform, what url do you download the .torrent from?
I use firefox to download the .torrent files and it seems this problem only occurs with firefox, I've tried with chrome and explorer 8 too and it works fine.
Sorry, can't reproduce this here. I tried it with Firefox 3.6.3 on Windows XP, with random torrents from the FreeBSD ISO images download site

Which version of firefox are you using, and which OS?
Do you have any plugins installed that might get into the way...
I'm using 3.6.3 and you gave me an idea with the plugins. I've created a new profile and with this fresh and clean one the problem doesn't exist. Now I'll have to figure out which plugin causes the problem and how the changed setting on ASG effect the plugins in the browser. Thanks for your time.
