help with mail server setup

Hello Friends !

i am trying to "exploring" mail security (must have notice no thread with mail issues[:)] )
i have fqdn ,i have configure mx with isp ,my isp doesn't give me option to use ptr (i cant enter the ip in revers order  in mx don't have option to enter any ip )
my mail server is on windows and dns configure on windows

online util for smtp check  say "Reverse DNS does not match SMTP Banner"
but i run
# host myipaddress
myipaddress.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer  myipaddress.static.vsnl.net.in.

can u please recommend u r ideas
possible work around

This is no big issue. I know many Installatios where it runs this way (including my own mailserver since over 6 years). Problem is, that reverse dns zones belong to your isp, and they only change your rdns entries to your need with a business uplink or if you buy a ip block. For mail functionality this has no influence.

As long yor smtp helo banner matches your mx entry ;o)

If you have a domain utmkid.vsnl.net.in. then your IP address should point back to the same name.
In your case, your domain name is utmkid.vsnl.net.in but your reverse lookup is saying your domain name is YOURIPADDRESS.vsnl.net.in. They are not the same.

So eg. mail.utmkid.com =192.168.0.1

host 192.168.0.1 should return
1.0.168.192.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer mail.utmkid.com.

Your ISP has to fix that. Not related to astaro.[;)] In the mean time, use smarthost option if your ISP offers a mail relay.

route by static host >>w2k3 mail server added
in replay >>Host-based relay>>w2k3

what other configuration need to be done !
added nat rule for pop and smtp (do i require it )
