[7.920][BUG][FIXED] HTTP/S Proxy blocks everything

i don't want to repeat what Angelo already said, but we (the developers) are aware of the the problems we caused with that broken up2date package. We analyzed what went wrong and put some additional things on our checklist, just to make sure. Sorry for all the headache.

If you're interested in the details: during this beta, we've been releasing much faster than the QA can test. Some tests have been automated, so we can see and fix mistakes earlier, and in general this works quite well. But some tests still have to be done manually and they take a whole lot more time.
A full QA test of the IPS system would take days or weeks. Even the basic up2date test would take one or two days to make it right. We would install a few older Versions, sometimes with IPS enabled, sometimes without. Sometimes with the full set of rules, sometimes with only a few. We would have to update them all to the next version and see if everything is still running. Of course we also have to test a fresh install, and each of these scenarios would have to run in different network setups (two, five and eight networks connected). And this is just the test-set for one feature. You get the idea.
During the beta, we only do a small subset of these tests, which is still reasonable enough, because we concentrate on the things that we've changed. We assume that there will be no side-effects on other subsystems, and most of the time, it works.
In future beta-releases, we will still keep the pace high, but IPS and the http-proxy will be tested more thoroughly. We still want to deliver the features and fixes rapidly, but since these features are so important and heavily used, we'll test them more.

I have to admit, you are the nicest bunch of people that I have encountered. No apologies are necessary or required. It is called a beta due the inherent lack of testing/introduction of newly added features. Looking at the release notes, this was a major upgrade to previous versions and the upgrade process failed, not the actual release (which by the way is very stable). I have dealt with developers in my time and believe me after they have worked their @$ses off, the last thing they want to hear is harsh criticism from people that are just pushing buttons on a nice GUI.

The amount of time Kai spends just on this board is amazing not counting processing all the feedback and keeping track of new bugs and their projected fixed dates. He never gets any sleep and I am beginning to think he is an astaro hermit.[:D] 

I have been tinkering with linux since the early 90s and the complexity that is involved in bringing all that open source software to play nice on every hardware imaginable makes my head spin. It takes me around 10 minutes on my clunky old PC to install an ISO. I will take a free home user license if I had to rebuild my machine every week but thats me. I like it when something breaks. If I wanted stability or didn't know how to route my traffic if the http proxy was broken,  I would run a production version. [H]

So you astaro guys, keep your chin up and if there is a broken up2date coming, let people know in advance. That way they can complain about not being able to read the release notes because their machines were down after the up2date[;)]
