I am just curious right now why it has become a seperate sub now. So it will cost customer another cost for use of this or will be incorporated into another one?
We're a little over one year into a four year agreement with all subscriptions currently. Is there a possibility for those in this situation to be grandfathered or at least given a substantial discount?
Granted that this is new functionality that didn't exist before, but it's going to be a hard sell to management that our full subscription is about to become partial without coughing up some more cash.
I'll also be hitting up my reseller about this, but figured that I'd get it from the horses mouth. [:)]
Web Application Security for the GA release will be delivered as a separate subscription yes. As this is a specialized-use feature, customers that will require its features will not always be the same as the Web Security users. Rather than increase the pricing of the Web Security subscription (essentially forcing all Web Security users to absorb the cost of a feature they might not require) this will be available separately as per our new licensing model which gives you more choices when buying Astaro products.
Final pricing for this subscription will be decided probably sometime late May or early June, and will be aggressively set against other offerings in that feature-space.
On the home user licensing question, we have not yet made that decision (I'm sure there are a number of YES votes here in this forum however [;)] ) and I'll update you on that as soon as I have news on that.
Scott in regards to your question, the customer/purchases made which included "full guard" was simply a bundle of our Network, Web and Mail Security offerings to provide a total-all-in-one line item for purchase of the most commonly known areas of UTM. We have still to review the full guard purchase options as well. As with any vendor, adding new, separate areas of functionality for purchase is perfectly normal and necessary to move forward with major new offerings.
Strange that astaro first integrates subscriptions like the mail encryption (which is a feature that most of our customers dont use!) into mail security but dont add WAF into Websec. (also wlan will need a new license!)
