Is this the normal Microsoft bashing or do you have some real critics?

For my part, I think Microsoft has done a nice job with Hyper-V and they even support to run their own Forefront Firewall on it.

So Security wise, i think this says a lot and I hope Astaro is going to support Hyper-V as well.

I currently run V8 on Hyper-V, been doing do since 7.4.

Do you want to share with us how well it works for you and what features you are missing?

It work really well except that all integration services must be disable otherwise ASG system clock drift. I would like is to have Integration service installed which would allow me to use the VMbus NIC instead of the emulated Legacy NIC (this should be faster and less CPU intensive). 

Currently my ASG cap at around 29 MBPS of troughput at that point the proxy and snort inline take a lot of cpu.. I am not sure if the driver would help on this.

I am running ASG 7504 and ACC 2.1 under hyper-v.


ASG 7.504 has after 10 days a delta of 30 minutes (the time in the vm is faster then in the real world) . --> This makes the use as mailgateway very difficult. I've disable the hyper-v time sync and did some changes in the NTP by cli but no way.

--> please integrage a way to sync the time

Just because I am a partner doesn't mean I blindly drink the kool aid.  HV is a VMware wanna be on the proprietary side.  Frankly it's nothing to write home about.  I've used it..tried it..even with their own products.  It's nothing to write home about.  Trust me just because i am a partner doesn't mean my criticism decrease..actually it's usually the opposite.  If i am going to put my business name as a partner it'd better be good..if it isn't..I'm going to make sure everyone i know knows htis..it's that simple.

p.s. being a MS partner means i have to pay a yearly stipend to MS.  so if anything i would most assuredly be MORE critical of them..not less.

try using vmware...actually for time critical things..that best way is bare metal..not even in a hypervisor.  "the cloud" ain't all that and a bag of chips.  It has it's uses but it's nothing more than mainframes/"dumb terminals" dressed up from 40 years ago..[:)]

Make sure to disable all Integration servicies for ASG VM, with no modification to ASG you should be able to get an accurate time.

I did add a few more Ntp source, but now everytime I check I am within the 10ms off range.

I basically do the same on all my machines, whether they are tin or virtual. It's generally considered good practice to have correct timestamps in the logfiles.

Make sure to disable all Integration servicies for ASG VM, with no modification to ASG you should be able to get an accurate time.
