So, as long as you uncheck the boxes, the feature is turned off. maybe you just misunderstood the the meaning of that checkboxes? It's reverse to the Firefox boxes. In Firefox the boxes have to be checked to EN-able e.g. Javascript, and on the ASG you to check the box if you want the machine to try to DIS-able Javascript by removing it from the html.
