[7.901][INFO][NONE] High Memory usage since 7.901

High all,


having an issue since this version i have a high memory usage.
Before it was around 30% now it is above the 50% and even had it once above the 70% ( Only have 2Gb off memeory in that system)

Also looking @ the console when doing dmesg getting this :

    Agree here as Monarch pointed out, we've discussed the usage of swap, swappiness, memory usage, and much more in quite some detail with everyone in the past. Since the arguments aren't new or changed, we'll have to agree to disagree on some opinions vs bringing that one all up again.

    I don't care one single bit if it uses 90% or whatever, i only want to know why the usage is higher than with the previous version, is all...

    The snort usage was a problem for me in 7.901. Haven't tested in 7.902 since the usage is only high after a system reboot. Restarting snort afterwards works fine and the usage is normal.

    Don't forget that they have added reverse proxy which runs a few instances of apache and with the beta license IM/P2P is active which will use some ram and mostly processor.

    Basically two reasons:

    • adding features
    • not having started any memory related optimizations


    without looking at your individual situation it is hard be more specific.
