[7.900][BUG][UNABLE TO DUPLICATE] No Network connection after install

I just installed the software on a Jetway MB with dual Realtek RTL8110SC NICS. The Chip set is VIA CN700 and VIA VT8237R Plus chipset. The CPU is the VIA CN700 NANO BGA Proc. The install went as follows
Boot from CD 12:45PM
BZIMAGE took about 3 min
initramfs.gz started to load at 12:48PM and finished at 1:10PM

Splash screen started and went through the normal setup tasks. Asigned the Eth0 to 192.168.1.2. When finished the box was rebooted and I could not connect to it from a client for Webadmin. 

I logged into the box console and issued the ifconfig command and only see the loopback. Can not ping any internal devices from the console.

NICS were identified during setup so don't know what happen.

Please advise.

    ... the 20min+ the setup takes to uncompress the initramfs.gz during the CD boot. Seems a bit long no?? 


    Good point. Can you please try to compare the following approaches:
    - decompressing that file while reading it from the CD
    - copying that file to HD and then decompress is.

    please use [FONT="Courier New"]cat FILENAME |gunzip > /dev/null [/FONT], so we can check the pure read performance.

    If that takes 20+ Minutes too, then you CD drive is slow.

    ok the command finished in a few 5 seconds so it does seem a slow CDrom. It is an older CDROM so it is may just be a slow drive.

    Thanks for the logs.  From looking at the files I can see that the NICs seem to be initialized correctly, link speed is negotiated at 10 Mbit/s (?), none of the offloading capabilities are enabled.

    Are the 10 MBit/s expected?

    Many people report similar issues with Realtek hardware nowadays.

    10mb is not what I would expect. I had it once pluged into a DLINK 10/100/1000 switch, At another point it was pluged into a netgear 10/100 switch. The logs were gathered as it was pluged into the Dlink switch.

    From looking at the logs I can see that there are no errors reported by the driver, also all hardware off-loading if off with this NIC.

    Please check your MTU size, as there have been problem reports with non-standard MTU size of 1500.  You can check with running the command 'ifconfig eth0' (or whatever interface).

    I have checked that all known issues fixes are added to our kernel driver.  Also there have been some problem reports regarding Realtek networking hardware lately.

    In case you report a standard MTU size of 1500 I'd suggest to add this hardware onto our Known Issue List.

    I've got a jetway system (atom based though) with a onboard realtek and a 3 x realtek gigabit addon card and that works well.

    I did not change the MTU and was set to 1500. That does not explan the NIC's losing all IP configuration info after reboot. disabled the onboard NICs and added a dual NIC card to the PCI slot on the MB and it works with that no problem. I think there is some flakyness with the new code and the way they interact with the reltek GB NIC on this board. I did not have any issues with 7.5x Version with this same Jetway Board and the onboard NICS.
