[7.900][BUG][UNABLE TO DUPLICATE] Citrix XenServer External Virtual Network Link Down?

I have had v7.504 running on XenServer for a while now.

But after installing v8 (keeping the same exact XenServer configuration) and restoring the backup of the previous 7.504 all the NIC's that are connected to an external virtual network have a link state down in Astaro. Although the internal virtual network is working properly.

Kernel Log:

2010:04:01-08:06:51 Firewall kernel: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready
2010:04:01-08:06:52 Firewall kernel: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth4: link is not ready


I have 6 virtual NIC's and eth1 is the internal virtual network. eth5's state is meant to be down not sure why it's state is up but all the rest of the states are down.

I have tried a reboot after restoring the backup with no luck.

    Xen is currently not supported, see here.

    That said: can you give us some more information on your network setup, dmesg output of the nics found, etc?

    I understand paravirtualisation isn't working in v8 but for that matter it wasn't working in v7.5 as well.

    I will get that info for you next chance I get [;)]

    I have it running on xenserver 5.5, fully virtualized (win2003 x64 template), worked largely without problems (you have to install it using the classic option). 


    Hmm maybe that's it. I am using the same VM container that I used for v7.5 (32bit) and I installed the 64bit kernel. I'll try playing around with that also next chance I get.

    I didn't say that it doesn't work. I only said that it's not supported. We simply didn't test it. If it works, hey, fine. Tell us everything about it, how you did it, what problems you ran into and how you solved them. That might even bring Xen support earlier into the product. After all: we're big virtualization fans ;-)
