Hello Friends !

can u please tell me what is difference in application firewall and ips  (astaro specific ). as i can see some of the application firewall feature are come with ips already 

when and why i should use application firewall  

are we using novell apparmor  ?

    no its mod_security


    why i should use application firewall 

    think of a reverse proxy with filter capabilities:
    1) to access a web application within your company network from the internet without talking to the server directly. (like Outlook WebAccess on a Exchange server) 
    2) loadbalancing of web application servers behind the ASG

    there are many more scenarios, have a look at google for 'reverse-proxy' or 'web application firewall'
