[7.850][BUG][NOTABUG] Pptp

Hello Friends !

this is not specific bug in 7.850 ,this problem was there with me from bug testing of 7.5 almost 6-8 months old

My problem is i am only able to browse internet using pptp with my dell vostro 1520 laptop but on desktop/server i am ale to browse normally i try static and dynamic bind ,i was trying to understand vpn and download vpn client software (i think during that time problem start) before that i was able to browse normally with laptop i am using windows xp sp3 with all uptodate update 

because of pptp ,i could not test all feature (is there any limitation for pptp using network function/features with astaro (is it true))

what should i do

    You don't need to download any client software for PPTP with Windows XP, maybe that's where you problems start. Follow the instructions you find in user portal and you'll be all right.

    i download asg ssl vpn client ,yes i dont require any client for pptp

    I am using 7.50 at home and was in Europe and UAE during the holidays. I have to tell you, the pptp vpn is what kept my sanity.  It works great and you don't need any special software. Also it is NAT aware so if you behind a NAT router at a hotel, it works fine on the other end. Heck, I was even using sling player over vpn since I don't like opening port 5001 permanently on my astaro. 

    Iphone -->PPTP VPN to home -->Sling mobile player 

    Only a couple of things; if your local NAT is in 192.168.1.x range and your astaro is in the same range, the routing will not work. So make sure all your internal networks on astaro are on a different subnet scheme than the one you are using to connect. Also the pptp network is considered a completely independent network in astaro so you will need to create all new packet filter rules for pptp network. I also allowed pptp via my http proxy and that works like a charm too.
