[7.850][BUG][OPEN] hardware detection

Hi,
the hardware detection did not discover the onboard NIC, which is an MCP61. The NIC was offered in the choice of interfaces to use as webadmin access.

Side note - Interestingly this memory is recognised by the MB as being 800 where as the 2gb used previously worked at 800 was only recognised at 667.

    Hello,

    the new v8 installer features a very good environment for debugging. Please try the 'write to usb-stick' option and send us the logs. If that doesn't work, you can also remotely login to the box during installation like so:

    - Switch to a console by pressing ALT+F2
    - type 'killall bootstrap' (that kills the installer)
    - type 'ifconfig ethX up' (where X is your internal interface. take note that the NICs may not be sorted at this stage)
    - type 'ifconfig ethX 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0' to configure a static IP
    - type '/etc/init.d/dropbear start' (this brings up the SSH server)
    - type 'passwd' to set the root password
    - connect via SSH to the installer
    - get the logs using SCP (winscp can do that as well). Please *pull* the files from the installer (issue the scp command from the remote box and not the installer)

    The most interesting file is /var/log/install.log.

    For hardware information, type 'lspci > /var/log/lspci.txt && dmesg > /var/log/dmesg.txt' and post the files here as well.

    Hi Mario,
    I have not been able to build the box due to problems in the ISO. I have started another thread on the issues.

    I have downloaded the ISO again and will try again. The size of both downloads was the same.

    Hi ,

    there is no md5sum other integrity  checker avilable at ftp site  i send pm for that 
    can we add that to site as we always do

    Hi,
    further on the hardware detection. This version of ASG has reversed the order of the NICs, so a restored backup has the VLANs working on the lower performance Nvida MCP61 rather than the high performance intel pro 100/1000 NIC.

    The ADSL connection now works on the intel NIC.

    All appears to be in order at this stage.
