Welcome to the Closed Beta for Astaro Security Gateway Version 8! As a valued tester to us, we are inviting you into this Beta to solicit your feedback of our efforts in delivering the next major version of ASG.
This Beta will be a bit different than our previous ones. Rather than bake all the things we have planned for Version 8 and then unleashing them on the community all at once, we will conduct a series of releases which add features and areas of functionality in incremental steps. This way, you can focus your testing on a few areas at a time, instead of having to go through and test all of the things we have planned at once.
Also, this Closed Beta is by invitation only, and is not yet public. We are inviting you to test much earlier than we normally would, and the releases you will be testing will be under HEAVY development and not a fair indicator of the final features and build quality of even a public Beta. For this reason, to avoid any premature uneducated responses, we would ask that you respect the closed nature of this test and not reveal features, screenshots, or any part of the Version 8 Beta until we announce the start of the full public V8 Beta later in 2010.
Quite assuredly these early releases will contain bugs, errors, and things which simply are not finished. We would like as much feedback as possible, and will prompt you with regular postings to the Closed V8 Beta section of the UBB with what we are releasing and what you could please focus your testing on for us.
We have a first release of the V8 Beta coming for you very soon, for now, this forums is hidden, which only the usernames of the invited testers are able to access. You will see some familiar faces already invited, and as time passes and the releases keep coming, we do plan to add more testers to this closed Beta, so new additions to the forum should be expected.
