7.500 Released

Hello there Beta Testers.

We are today, (Sept 17th) going to release the 7.500 GA version as a soft-release. This means it will not be pushed out via our content distribution network to all installations, but as we have been doing, we'll release it as a manual download first. Today there will be 2 Up2Date pacakages only; 1 for 7.405->7.500, and one for 7.490->7.500. 

ISO images will follow next week, then on Oct 1st, we will push 7.500 via the Up2Date network. There will shortly be an Up2Date blog posting about the 7.500 release with links, information, my release notes etc...

Now for the important stuff [:D]
We will be analyzing the feedback from the Beta and will then award our Amazon Gift cards to the winners for the most valued participation. Also, active beta testers will receive a special home use key with more allowances than a normal home use key. This and a few other surprises we have planned for tomorrow. If for some reason we're not able to fully complete / wind-down the beta process, we'll wrap it up next week, so give me a bit of leeway if I can't get all the keys and such finalized before the weekend.

Thanks very much for your feedback. We'll probably keep this Beta forum open only for a while longer, and will close/archive it as usual once everything is final. For now, watch this thread for update posts.

    That doesn't comport with my experience.  The SMTP Proxy should continue to function.  Can you confirm that the emails were swallowed?  That would seem like a bug to me.

    That doesn't comport with my experience.  The SMTP Proxy should continue to function.  Can you confirm that the emails were swallowed?  That would seem like a bug to me.

    I dont think they were accepted.  I was able to get a home license installed on mine, still running 4.90, and as soon as the license was installed the emails started coming in.  I looked at the SMTP log and did not see any of the email previously accepted or denied so I think it just stop accepting SMTP traffic is my guess.  Which is still not good.  I was able to get to my web server when the license was expired.  It was just incoming email that was not working.

    Side note:  Dont get me wrong about not receiving a license for beta testing.  I have a passion for technology and really enjoy working with anything technical.  It was just a bummer having the email stop comming in because of an expired license.  If this was a live environment and not a lab it would have been unacceptable.  But it is a lab and I just had my wife asking why she wasn't getting emails.  Its all good now.  Im just happy I wont have to use my ISA server just to get the home license just to switch back to the Astaro!  I really do like the Astaro over ISA.

    Nothing recieved, except informative mails from the Astaro box to me.

    And Mail Manager confirms this

    According to my tests, they where indeed accepted by the Astaro box, never showed up in mail manager, and simply wanished ?

    I don't get you wrong here, and is also doing lot's of lot's of lot's of beta's, been a Novell SysOp/NKP

    You are right.  It must be a bug.  I had just looked at the Mail Manager earlier (during the time when my license was expired) and did not see the test email I sent either accepted or denied in Mail Manager.  However I just  looked thru the SMTP Proxy log and saw were it had hit the Astaro and vanished.  I still have not received an undeliverable message for that test email I sent and it was never passed thru the Astaro from what I could see.

    I wonder if the email is in the outbound mail queue, but the DNS configuration doesn't allow it to be delivered?  That would still be a bug, but a different one than I first thought.

    No changes made to the box, except for the license expired....As such, DNS should still work, and also I do recieve mails/alerts send from the Astaro Appliance itself
