[7.480][QUESTION][ANSWERED] HTTP cache size

My http proxy was a little sluggish this morning so I was going to clear the cache. I noticed the cache is fairly large even under light home use. I just wanted to know how the optimum cache size is calculated for http proxy in the current version. Also how long does the content stay in the cache.
Here is the usage:

gatekeeper:/var/storage/chroot-http/var/cache # du -ch /var/chroot-http/var/cache |grep total
1.3G    total

My storage partition snipped 

gatekeeper:/var/storage/chroot-http/var/cache # df -h
Filesystem                        Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on

/dev/disk/by-label/storage 12G  1.6G  9.7G  14% /var/storage

I will keep an eye on my disk I/O since that could be taxing my old firewall hardware.
