[7.470][QUESTION][ANSWERED] DNS entries

Hi All

I've created a network object as dns host for a mail server. Couple of weeks earlier I've decided to  change a hosting service and therefore XUY now resolves to a different ip

use to resolve to 62.1.***.*** but now it resolves to 95.154.***.***

i.e XUY is my mail server [:)]


I 've noticed that the entry hasn't change on my ASG (However,all the rules were working etc). The entry changed once I've rebooted my ASG. Is this how it's meant to work or is it some kind of a bug?

    Are you saying that you did things to access your new mail host, were unable to reach your mail, rebooted the Astaro and then were able to access mail?

    Or, are you just saying that you looked at the entry without editing/saving it and it didn't change so you rebooted?

    Also, why did you define this as a DNS Group instead of a DNS Host?

    correct. In fact I noticed the wrong ip, I've edited and saved it again (thought that might resolve the issue) with no luck. As soon as I performed the reboot the ip changed. The issue didn't have any impact to my connections.I was just curious as to why it didn't change


    Also, why did you define this as a DNS Group instead of a DNS Host?


    I used the dns group cause at the time The mail.***. resolved two to different ips. (shouldn't make any difference though. It will eventually resolve the same ip)

    It is related to dns cache not flushing when making changes to dns forwarders etc. and astaro is supposed to fix it. You can just flush the cache in the mean time instead of rebooting and you won't have that issue.[;)]
    I guess your dns hosts must have had a huge TTL. It should have expired long before a couple of weeks. Wierd.
