[7.470][QUESTION][ANSWERED] Astaro downloads some files, Firefox & IE others.

Why, when I try to download a file, I sometimes get get an Astaro page that downloads it for me (step 1) scans it (step 2) and lets me then save it (Step 3) but other times (most of the time) I just get my normal IE or Firefox download box and save it as if Astaro was not even there? Between the times it does it an does not do it, I have made no settings changes...I am not exactly sure what logs to look at either.

I am not using the socks proxy.  I am running in transparent mode, but not "full transparent mode" I have not proxy data in Firefox or IE.

File size does not seem to matter.  I like the Astaro page showing the download is being scanned... how do I make it do that for all downloads?

    The Astaro knows the download speed.  If it thinks the download will last more than a few seconds, it shows the page - if not, it doesn't.  This is well-documented on the User BB and in the KnowledgeBase.

    Except that it does not show it 95% of the time weather the file is 1 meg or 110 megs.  I tried various size downloads... and it seems inconsistent.  I went to download Norton Internet Security 2009 for a friend, which is 110 megs... and Astaro did not download it, Firefox did.  I go to download Firefox 3.5 and astaro does download it.  (7 or 8 megs I think.)  Am I doing something wrong, or is it just a hit or miss thing?

    Vista SP 2 is over 300 megs... and Astaro did not show the page... just over 2 minutes to download...

    there's a setting in the http proxy to only scan files under a certain size. I believe the default is 50 MB, you should check to see what you have yours set at.

    I moved it up to 750 megs, and it still lets Firefox download Vista SP2. (350+ megs)  Wouldn't the proxy do the downloading, then let the AV scan it?

    well...there's also a default exception in the http proxy for microsoft.com to skip av check to allow windows update, I'm assuming this would effect your vista download. So either disable the exception or test the http proxy with a different file.

    It seems you may be correct.  I did not think Astaro gave all of ms.com a free pass.  I figured it would just be the two or three URL's that related to Windows update.
