[7.500][QUESTION][ANSWERED] Support for new Intel Nealem CPUs ?

Hi

I'm trying to install asg 7.470 on a new DELL PowerEdge R610...

CPUs are: INTEL XEON E5506

but install hangs just after booting kernel... nothing happen... we were able to install using classic but still can't boot after reboot [:(]

is it supposed to work ? or something ?

any hints ?

ok seems I solved my problems by installing using classing mode, then boot using only acpi=force (removed the noapic and nosmp stuff)

will let you know if I have more problems..

the kernel-smp can't be booted I've to used the non-smp kernel (kernel-default)

any idea ?

ok in fact I've 2 quadcore CPUs to make things work I need to add maxcpus=4 to the cmdline ! so basically use only 1 real CPU !

I've tried to disable cores to have only 2 single CPUs without luck !

maybe a problem with asg smp kernel ?

That box is up2date, no bios upgrade available right now...

This is really a recent DELL box..

yep can confirm that, installed onto 2 DELL R610...

but megaposer can we get a link to the bigsmp kernel ? so we can test with 2 quad core CPUs ? [:)]
