[7.470][QUESTION][ANSWERED] How to use DHCP to only static mappings feature?

Hi,
Networking: DHCP to only static mappings

Says that this feature has been implemented in the beta, but I see little indication of how to achieve this...

I see the check box for "Clients with static mappings only", but it's not clear if a range should still be specified (I would think it shouldn't be, but that fails).

    Hi Barry,

    The intention of the Static mappings only option is to prevent unauthorized systems from requesting DHCP info from your system.

    As such the DHCP setup should be done as normal with your assignments for a pool range.

    Then allow your network devices to poll and receive DHCP information regularly so as to generate a listing of MAC addresses.  
       -Alternatively you could assign all the IPs per MAC address manually but why not let technology work for you.

    Once the devices have all received an IP goto the Lease Table tab and use the new Add Static mapping option to assign an IP address to each observed system based on MAC address.

    Once you have assigned all of the systems you desire enable the Static Mapping only.  Now your network will work to always assign IPs to your systems when they connect based on their MAC address.
