[7.470][QUESTION][ANSWERED] Is there a problem with the asg iso

Hi,
I have downloaded a number of copies and not been able to get one to boot.

I have checked the last downloaded version against the md5 perfect match.
I have checked the md5 of the cd copy and that is a perfect match.
I have burnt the ISO using 2 different PCs
I have used 3 different cd readers on the ASG
I have changed the CD cable
I have wasted a lot of CDs in the process.

The cd readers start every time, but won't boot. I even chose the CD as the first in the boot sequence using post bios selection, still no joy.

just tested v7.450b ISO on the same setup and it works fine.

Eventual conclusion is no, there is nothing wrong.
Downloaded 3 more versions before I finally got one that will work.
This time it was through work, a gateway in the US and a gateway in AU.

Hi Ian,
If the MD5sum of the CD was OK, then there's no point in downloading again; it must be a problem with the ISO (not) or with the drive reading the disc during boot... I always burn bootable ISOs at the slowest possible speed as they tend to not boot otherwise.

Maybe a different brand of media would work better too.

What Barry said; I often set the burner at a lower speed than max, and have good success that way... Media can make a difference, too, as can the quality of the CD Burner itself.

Hi Folks,
at home the only common item was the cd source and yes they have to be suspect because 6 failed to burn correctly. I do have other ISO burnt to them.

Anyway, I now have an ISO and will try to re-build the ASG tonight using the ISO not the up2date process.
