Monarch, what if you are using the SMTP Anti-Virus for outbound mail, and don't have a mail server? Then you wouldn't have any route target and the proxy should work.
Wingman, in this case, it seems that Monarch is right that you are being blocked from doing what you shouldn't be able to do: configure how you handle inbound mail without having a target for the inbound mail. Astaro must have fixed the bug that was letting you do that. Remember that Astaro only does A-V scans on outbound mail, not Anti-Spam.

That's exactly how I am using it (only to scan outgoing mail)
