did you have any log entries like Bob? If no the bounced mail will not be received by the astaro. If the astaro should do something wrong you should see a error or bounced message in the logfile.

2. Email comes back but you never get the ndr? I tried to test that by sending email to betatestingemailaddy @ hotmail.com (obviously a fake address) and it comes right back as ndr.
That one, except that it comes back after close to 4 hours....

Since it is marked as Bounce from within the Mail manager, Astaro knows about this, and should deliver the NDR right away....but it delayes it for 4 hours
Now this is indeed bad.....this time I never got it ?

They do respond with error 550, and that's all they should do.....
As said...as soon as the Astaro box recieves that, it should send an NDR
However, it seems to put it into some defer queue, which IMHO is a bug
