[7.460][QUESTION][ANSWERED] VOIP Security counters seem high

Hi, I installed 7.460 from ISO 3 days ago, and it doesn't seem to be doing a very good job of keeping count of VOIP connections:

SIP connection counters - today 
Connections today: 0
Connections yesterday: 3680
Connections this week: 3796

We only have one line and only make or receive a few calls per day.

Is this counting something other than phone calls? If so, why is it 0 for today?

    Hi Barry,
    that is not a new issue. I saw it often, but not every call under v7.402/3.

    Some calls would only record one or two count and yet others would record 1000s. The count doesn't appear to be call length duration based.
    My current SIP count is over 1500 for the month, not bad for a home phone used to make outgoing calls only.

    I use RingCentral and do make 50-100 calls a day. In and out and it shows 38 for the last two days and I have over 100 calls. It has something to do with just connections on SIP 5060. My service using Ports 5060 to 5090, if the call originates on 5060 I think it counts the connection, if it is any other port I do not think it is counting the connection. What you might be seeing if you are in the 1000's is some providers or devices check SIP connections on port 5060 over, and over again to make sure it has a live connection to the server. Just a thought. [:)]

    there is no generally issue with the counter script. The main problem is that the sip helper of the astaro counts only connections going over port 5060. If now a connection opens some high ports for the voice traffic it will not be counted. If you do a call over sip you don't have only one connection for one call. It depends one how your voip service provider is routing and handle this traffic. There is the main problem. If you take a look to 10 customers which are doing only 20 calls per day with the sip helper you get 10 different reports and coutner values ;-)
