[7.460][BUG][FIXED] Factory reset followed by restore => a brick

I had restored from 7.450, and everything worked fine.  Then, I restored from 7.402 and experienced some anomalies.  I wanted to try another restore to test something.

I did a factory reset, and then power-cycled the ASG220 with a 7.402 backup file on USB.  I tried twice and have been unable to reach the ASG on either the internal or external IP.

I just power-cycled again with a 7.450 backup in place.  I still can't get through.

I removed the USB and power-cycled just to get a restart.  Still can't get through.

I have opted for a re-install from ISO.  I waited until the CD was ejected and the message "Intallation finsihed" appeard on the LCD of the ASG220.  I powered down, inserted a USB stick with the same 7.402 backup I restored into 7.450 and powered back up.  Works fine now.

    Hi Bob,

    what exactly do you mean, when you say that you still can't get through?

    Is your ASG trying to restore the backup and stop working there?
    or is the ASG booting up but doesn't restore the backup?
    or occurs the error earlier at boot up when the boot sequence is checked?

    What kind of USB-Stick are you using?

    The restore process appears to complete successfully.  It was not possible to reach WebAdmin on either the internal or external interface.

    After reinstallation from ISO, the same restore process with the same USB stick allowed WebAdmin access via both interfaces.

    This particular phenomenon only appeared after a factory reset.

    I wonder if this isn't just another manifestation of the underlying problem with the restore process.  I've been complaining for awhile here that a reboot is required after restore in order to get the entire configuration activated.

    PS Could it be that 512MB is not enough for a successful restore without a reboot thereafter?

    I have a suspicion that the reboot after restore problem is related to which NIC you 'setup' during the install, vs which is the internal NIC in the restored config.

    I didn't setup anything.  I installed the ASG220 from ISO by booting the ASG with a USB CDROM in place.  Immediately thereafter, I restored the backup from the same machine.  This is a test machine, and the only change I made to the internal interface when I first setup the unit with with a CDROM ISO install of 7.40? was to change the IP address.  I'm manic about using standards, so I know that I have never changed the physical port for the Internal interface.

    Thanks for helping to pinpoint this issue.
