[7.450][BUG][NOTABUG] Internet down after backup restore; reboot required

I installed the beta (v7.450.090529) on a new drive that I popped into my Compaq DL360, then I restored a backup I had just created. The backup was from astaro version 7.402. Everything seemed fine until I tried to go to the internet, I got a Host Not Found error. It seems the restore worked okay, all my configuration info is there.

I shut down astaro, but the old drive in which running astaro version 7.402 and everything worked fine, I could access the internet.

Hi Scott,
If I remember correctly there a couple of similar posts very early on in the release. Assuming you are using PPPOE I think the resolution was a reboot, then a config restore seemed to get it going. After that it was okay.

What you haven't provided is your external interface - ADSL - CABLE - FIXED IP etc.

On 7.40x, I have to reboot every time after importing a backup.

Not using PPPoE, just DHCP, btw.

Rebooting did the trick. I can get to the internet now.

Had pretty much the same thing here.

After the installation of the beta and doing a backup restore during installation, the internet was not accessable. But this was due to the fact that the Packet Filter dropped all DNS queries, even though it was allowed within the filters.

A reboot resolved this issue and if I remember correctly, this has been an issue for quite a bunch of different versions now.

For me, iirc, it wasn't just DNS; ping wasn't working from the firewall either.
