Hello I got the same problem with Skype ( https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/98/t/67709 )

First, I couldn't use IMs. But now, after removing the Network from controlled IM Networks and shutting down IM Control, Trillian Astra Beta does work again with ICQ, AIM, Yahoo, MSN. But NOT with XFire or Skype. Skype does NOT connect and XFire neither.

AND: Astra can't connect to its "homeserver", its in Offline Mode. So I can confirm that bug and hope for an fix.

Ok, this doesn't fix it at all:

Connection is STILL rough. Mostly, Trillian does crash now or I just can write messages and such - get no error - but no one does recieve these messages - and for all the other ppl, I'm offline. So... I'm on the same problem as homer.

...I have used iChat and Adium through all the major IM channels and things seem to run fine.  I am running through proxy and on OSX 10.5.7...

...logs indicate traffic and I have not dropped an conversations.

I have yet to try skype, but using Pidgin/Gaim (in both win and nix) I have not had any issues with AIM,ICQ,IRC, GTalk since upgrading. 
The only issues I have noticed with skype is that searching for new contacts seems hang and yeild no results. Otherwise I have not noticed any disconnects yet (Using Beta 1.4.0.99 in Linux.. latest is 2.0.0.72, so I am a bit behind).

Skype works without problems on MacOSX 10.4.11 10.5.6, Windows and Linux
i can telephoning chatting etc. on all Systems.
