[7.450][BUG][NOTABUG] HTTP proxy epoll

I have started a couple of threads on what I thought are bugs in this beta version.
Today is another attempt to identify a cause for continual poor performance of the HTTP proxy.
My sons have been complaining of web page dropouts and bad lag since I put 7.450 in. Further I thought the audio streaming failure was caused by a classification change, which is is, but that might be the part that is reporting the error when the error is something else.
I have noticed that my audio streaming last for a couple of minutes, that ties with what my sons are complaining about.
Now the http proxy live log has a number of epoll reloads which occur about every 3 or 4 minutes, co-incidence, I don't think so.

The 'epoll reloads' are actually config reloads trigged by some changes in the Configuration Database. (Usually caused by DNS hosts, or similar dynamic objects). This isn't an error from the proxies point of view, it's just an informational message for debugging.

this only started happening under 7.450b, doesn't happen under 7.403.

At the moment it is very hard to determine if the epoll reloads are happening at the same time as the audio streaming drops because the log is a little slow in updating. I will do some more monitoring.

My DNS entires haven't changed since I forced a reconnect to the ISP this morning to see if that would help another issue I have raised. There aren't any changes to the ASG since approx 7am today let alone every 2 or 3 minutes.

How are you watching the logfile? If you're watching it via WebAdmin, it may be faster to log on to the asg via SSH and using 'tail -f /var/log/http.log' - that should give a bit more of a 'realtime' feeling...

I was watching the proxy and dns log files via the webadmin. 

The DNS log did not change, but shortly after the audio streaming failed the epoll entry showed up in the http log.
Co-incidental, I don't think so, happens too often. And then a blocked get record for the audio classification, not every time.

Restart itunes audio streaming and then I listen for a while.

no, epoll_loop every time streaming stops.

Becoming quite painful.

Could it relate to a bios setting like the hpet (high performance timer function)?

I do have a BIOS upgrade to install.

Then along comes this

and I do see a lot of these entries in the DNS log, but the times are different to audio streaming failures.

I don't think that this has to do with those epoll messages as Sven told you before...
