[7.450][BUG][NOTABUG] Network Services > DHCP > Lease Table not repopulating

I created two static MAC / IP Mappings to facilitate the connection between my XBox 360 and Windows Vista Ultimate Media Center. Astaro was not showing my XBox 360 as existing on my network. After creating the static ips for both systems I was able to connect the two devices, but neither one of them are showing up in the lease table. I refreshed multiple times and exited WebAdmin to no avail.

You are correct. If the hosts are defined in the static map/IP mappings, they are not showing up in the lease table. I am not sure though if that is not by design. The lease table is only getting populated if the host has no static mapping. Also on vista sp2 IE8.0.6001, the New Mapping button doesn't work and generates the following error

I believe it is the same in 7.4 (static mappings do not show up in lease table), but I thought it odd there that they do not show. Seems like they should.

Yes, it's always been like that.

BTW, the static mappings should be OUTSIDE the DHCP pool.

Hi Barry

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think they have to be outside the DHCP pool.It's possible for some to create reservations withing the DHC Pool

The problem is that the DHCP server does not ping ahead to make sure that the address is free so you can finish up with two devices with the same IP if you set a static in the DHCP pool.

I have a request in to add a ping ahead option which stops this.

That is actually a implementation design of the dhcp server used. And yeah, the behavior should be the same in 7.4 and 7.5.

Good idea.
I've also whined about the documentation for the DHCP features, as it's not clear that you need to use a different address range for reservations.

I thought that DHCP server first checks the dhcp.leases file [path : /var/sec/chroot-dhcps/var/state/dhcp] and then the handshake takes place[DHCP discover,offer ,request,acknowledgment]
