[7.450][INFO] ASG does not work in virtualbox on ubuntu

Hi,

I wanted to test using virtualbox on ubuntu, more convenient than bare metal now.

The installation works fine, but after that I'm unable to start the virtual machine. (with various virtualbox settings...)

Since this is a convenient way to check new software, I'm posting this issue here, even though I'm not sure the cause is with virtualbox or with astaro.

which version of Virtualbox and Ubuntu are you using?

Hi Gert,

I tried ubuntu 9.04 AMD64, with the virtualbox 2.1.4 open source edition that it ships with.

When it didn't work, I also decided to try out the latest virtualbox (the NON open source version) from their website: 2.2.4.

Same problem. I also tried installing astaro again under this newer version: same problem.

some extra info I just discovered:

this is NOT specific to the latest BETA. Same problems with the normal production version of astaro.

This is working fine for me on ubuntu 9.04, 64bits, with virtualbox 2.2.4...

(I've 3 ethernet interfaces in bridge mode...) no particular problems right now...

I was using 7.402 since some times already without any problems... and switched to beta today without any problems...

hey guys,

got the same problem. installation works w/o any errors - but first post-install boot-up doesn't work.

tested with virtualbox up to 2.2.2 (during devel phase). as 2.2.4 has been released recently, I will re-test with 2.2.4 and let you know if i've got a running system.

btw -- the first version that is running in my virtual box is a v8-pre-devel ISO. so maybe this is some kernel related issue?!

tested on ubuntu 'jaunty jacklope' 9.04 (i386) with virtualbox 2.2.2 and 2.2.4:

works for both cases. installation and system start successful.
