[7.450][INFO] How to configure Bandwidth Monitoring and some suggestions

Woohoo first post on the Beta claim [:D]

Loaded up and installed the Beta and must say I like the new layout for the webadmin, splitting up network and network services makes that easier to use.

Took me a while though to figure out the bandwidth monitoring setup though.  To share the steps I needed to get this to work:

Goto network>>interfaces.  
Edit each of the interfaces needed for monitoring and entered the bandwidth value
Go back to Dashboard.
Select the bandwidth bar which opens in a new window.

Suggestions for easier use:
Add a tab under Reporting>>Network Usage for Bandwidth Monitoring

On the bandwidth window, offer an option to Filter by IP address/protocol.
Also a auto refresh off/on as I found it difficult to quickly copy the information before the screen changed to display new info.
For the port description, can this both be by the actual port and port name such as https - 443

Great feature though and looking forward to the final release

    Of note, is that under the interface properties regarding the bandwidth specification parameters, this is used purely for the graphical display on the dashboard, and carries with it no specific functionality regarding limits, rates etc...it just sets the scale for the displayed usage bars which then appear on the dashboard. If you have differing up/down (usually on the external) then select "asynchronous".

    Usually for the LAN you would put a full 100 or 1000 mbit (depending on the nic) for its bandwidth.

    Thanks Angelo, so for the graphing I set the WAN link to match with the ideal ISP conditions then such as 15Mb down, 512kb up for a cable connection. 

    Internally set to 100Mb, now the colours look better.

    That's what I've set up and it works well - asymmetric 10Mb down / 512Kb up for the external interface, symmetric 100Mb for the internal interface.  I also had trouble tracking this down as the initial release announcement suggested these ranges were set via the QOS settings, but being located in Interfaces certainly makes the most sense.  It would be nice to have this level of configurability for other dashboard items I think; being able to turn widgets on or off (or rearrange them), configure ranges, include more/less detail as desired, etc. could make the dashboard more of a one-stop-shop than it is today.
