ASG 7.500 Beta Contest

ASG BETA 7.500 is now available. For detailed information and ISO download links, read the 7.500 Up2Date Blog posting.
In order to give you a good reason to install, test and use the ASG 7.500 BETA version, Astaro is holding a small bug reporting contest for UBB users. Here is how it works:

Please report bugs in this forum by opening a new thread. Include the BETA version number and a small synopsis in the thread title. For example:

[7.450] INFO: WebAdmin speed too fast to keep up with!

Use the following syntax:
[Version#] BUG/INFO/QUESTION/etc.: Issue

For each bug you report, we'll award a number of "points". How many depends on how much useful information you include in your report. So please include as much information as possible. You should at least describe your configuration and what the effect of the bug is. Including log file snippets, tcpdumps, screenshots and other helpful items may get you additional points. Hint: Bug reports along the line of "It does not work, please help" will probably not score any points.
You can report any bug you find, however it must be a "new" bug (one that is not already filed in our internal issue tracker). We'll keep track of the found bugs in this posting. Please check the list below before reporting. Also the Astaro Mods are the final instance in report evaluation. Please do not start discussions about the fairness of the process.

When the BETA phase ends, the three top UBB bug reporters will receive a brand new Nintendo DSi gaming console as well as Amazon Gift cards, valued EUR 300 for first place, EUR 200 for second place, and EUR 100 for third place. For non-EU national winners, we'll try to get gift cards in your local currency. Failing that, you'll get a card for amazon.com, in US dollars. Depending on overall participation, comment quality, posting activity, and other discretionary factors, participants will receive upgrades to their Home User Licenses from 10 IP's to 50 IP's.

    Angelo, I bet the developers hate it when you, Alan and Gert get involved in testing.  Actually, they likely don't know; I bet they're still resting up after all the stuff they put into this beta...

    i can not find a upgrade file for a running version of the astaro. is there any hidden link?

    As I know there IS no upgrade from running to beta! The beta is only as ISO available....

    Hello i've installed it in 10 Minutes on MAC Os X with Parallels and it works really fine! Now it try to restore my backup....

    Now i have to do some extra testing during the night !!

    ... just kidding. Great new features, so now i need an excuse not to go with my wife to the cinema. Better start testing 7.5x [[:D]] [[:D]]

    Hehe... I finally got aroudn installing the new ASG.
    And I have to say: I'm very pleased with it.
    Actually today my new home server came,
    its an D945GCLF2 Intel Board, which contains an Intel 1 Gbit Port, and the famous Dual Core Atom 1,6 Ghz with Hyperthreading & 2 Gb of DDR2 Ram. Installation was running as smooth as hell, it did recognize the SATA Drive as well as the 4 logical Cores of the Processor (2 Cores x 2 HT).

    ASG is running smooth and it feels like it would be running better than the old versions which I also did test on "higherend" servers. 

    So cheers, I will move that ASG soon into my home "production" server an replace the router with it - to make some live tests and see wheter it works as good as it looks now. Because - if something goes wrong - I'LL FEEL it - as this is my one and only main connection ;-).

    Thank you very much for your afford Astaro in developing AS WELL as the nice presentation and speech on the Cebit ^^. Had my fun talking to you guys.

    Hi,
    I had to disable hyperthreading on mine because it caused system instability, that was on v7.403. I haven't tried HT on this beta version though.

    I would be very interested on how yours behaves, I am having a number of issues with audio streaming and websurfing. I use http proxy in standard mode with a number of different profiles.

    At the moment I can't confirm that.
    ASG was recognizing the 4 "Cores" correctly on setup and is running smooth so far. But as of tomorrow, I'll let the ASG do my whole connection and then I'll report how it turns out. At the moment it looks great. Maybe you should consider upgrading to this Beta Version? (and maybe BIOS?)

    BTW: I used Youtube and Co so far quite well, Http altered to BOTH Virus Engines and SSL checking - and still very good throughput at the moment.
    I'll check on bigger files and Videos and stuff soon ^^

    Hi Nico,
    there wasn't a problem recognising all the cores real or otherwise, the issue came to stability. There are a number of threads on the subject in the production forum.
    Basically HT gives you no real extra processing power and adds an extra 10-15% to your cpu heat load.

    I am using the 7.500b on this machine and upgraded to the latest bios this morning. Still behaving just as badly after the bios upgrade.

    Hi, I finally got that thingy into production.

    At the moment I didn't got any problems with the exception of my Skype Connection aborting all the time. It does reset - connect to Skype - and then disconnects again. I opened up an thread for that.

    Otherwise, Youtube and Co is running fine. Ah, by the way, I didn't activated content checking for Youtube and Videos and so on under http settings.

    Do you got that runnin'?
