[7.390] Up2date RAM message

I just upgraded my ASG 120 box to 7.390 (my box is 512M) and got that message while going to up2date overvier: 


	The average RAM usage of your system during the last 7 days was over 70%.

The upcoming V7.4 and subsequent releases include many more features. To ensure your system continues to run optimally with these releases, it is recommended that you either increase the system's RAM size or upgrade to a unit with more memory before applying the next Up2Date package.

Please contact your certified Astaro partner to obtain detailed information about available upgrade programs.


and using only packet filter, IPS and openvpn... (no http proxy or other things like this)...

does that mean 7.4 will be not for ASG 120 boxes ? [:(]...

when I was experimenting the box I did tried to upgrade to 1G but ssi refused to install as it did not detected an ASG120 with 1G ram... does this be fixed for 7.390+ ?

    also seems this is less than 70% during last 7 days as seen in a copy of the attached weekly memory/swap usage [[:)]]

    seems a small bug for this one [[:)]]

    7.4 will be able to install on lower end systems with less memory, but you may not be able to use all available features. IPS is one of the features that uses quite a lot of memory, especially with all of the rules turned on.
     
    As far as putting 1GB memory into the 120, there may very well be a hardware limitation to the amount of memory that the box will recognize due to the chipset used. If this is the case, there wouldn't be any way that software could fix the issue. For example, I have a first generation 220. Because of the chipset on the motherboard, it is limited to 512 MB of RAM. Even if I put a larger stick of memory into the box, it wouldn't be recognized or be able to be used.
     
    If you go to Astaro Knowledgebase, look at the article called ASG RAM Upgrade. Based on the serial number of your 120, you'll be able to check whether your box will even take more memory or whether you'll need to contact a reseller to purchase a newer unit through the hardware upgrade program.
     
    This upgrade is not mandatory and you can just stick with 512MB memory if you so choose, but you'll then have to carefully pick and choose the features you use in future based on memory consumption.
     
    Looking at your screenshot, there are two points today when your memory consumption spiked up over 70%.  Although that wasn't the average, it probably set off the message.

    When I received the box first thing I did was to replace the 512M DDR2 RAM with 1G DDR2 as that was supported by the motherboard (bios was seeing it)... and I tried to install ssi (hardware iso) and after sometimes it stop telling something that the hardware is not recognized then when checking closely I've seen that it was expecting 512M for the ASG 120 models and that's why my box was not recognized.. [:(]

    then I did install ubuntu server 8.10 on it without any problems... 1G was recognized... [:D]

    I can probably install the software version with 1G ram.. but what benefit I loose installing software version on the 120 ? (loose of the SSL hardware acceleration ? or whatever ?) if nothing special I will do so... to gain 512M more memory and get back all the 4 ethernet ports [:)]
