[7.380] Automated backup does not work?

Hi,

I configured a daily backup, which should keep the last 30 backups. Additional this backup should be send via email.

"Management » Backup/Restore » Automated backups" is enabled, but no backups has been created automated. I also got no email (email is working due  I receive notifications).

When will backup be created (12:00 am?)?

    I have changed mine from weekly to daily to test this one as well earlier today.  I'll post back if I see the same trend.

    I've been getting daily emails from ASG since installing 7.350 and through all the updates to 7.380 with an attachment of the automated backup file. 

    I can also see a list of backup's (all starting at 01:15am) that I can restore from under Management -> Backup/Restore.

    I've got backups set to daily, and keeping a max of 10...

    I can see in the System Messages Log an entry like the one below for a successful backup:
    [FONT="Courier New"]
    2008:12:29-01:15:01 gatekeeper /usr/sbin/cron[5700]: (root) CMD (/usr/local/bin/backup.plx)[/FONT]

    Not sure whether you can find this entry in your System Messages log - perhaps with an error message underneath, or whether the absence of a message like the above would indicate an entry missing from the crontab(s). 

    I have a file /etc/crontab-backupmail with the following entry (not entirely sure how this gets referenced, or why it's there):

    [FONT="Courier New"]15 1 * * *  root /usr/local/bin/backup.plx[/FONT]

    More importantly, the main /etc/crontab includes the same entry:

    [FONT="Courier New"]15 1 * * *  root /usr/local/bin/backup.plx[/FONT]

    Perhaps SSH in to the machine and check if the cron job is setup to run the backups?

    No issue here.  They are being generated just like b2bweb stated.

    You're all right! My ESXi shuts down at 01:00 [:)] so the cronjob could never start! I will disable the shutdown and have a look at 01:15!

    [EDIT] A system backup file was created automatically and sent via E-Mail to the administrator! (send 01:15 ^^) -> works!
