Client proxy settings with standard web proxy?

I'm running the beta (7.380) and I'm running the web proxy in the standard (not transparent) mode. I went around and set all the clients to use the proxy on port 8080. Then I started testing various browsers and settings. Everything is working great but if I have a client not set explicitly to use the proxy they are still able to browse. I assumed they were bypassing the proxy but if I watch the http proxy's live log I see the client's requests are going through the web proxy. I was under the impression that once the proxy was enabled I would have to block port 80 to keep folks from bypassing the proxy.

So it appears that setting the clients to explicitly use the proxy on port 8080 is unnecessary, as is blocking port 80 to force them through the proxy. Do I understand it correctly?

Well I believe I answered my own post. It appears I do have to block port 80 traffic to the outside if I want to enforce content filtering via the standard proxy on port 8080.

You are correct, in that if you put the proxy in standard mode, you must be sure to block port 80 via the packet filter so they are not able to "not" put in a proxy server and simply browse out that way. This is intended as the proxy will match the traffic first, and traffic not directed at the proxy is subject to normal firewall permissions. A simple block rule should quash this.
