[INFRASTRUCTURE] Download server speed - is there a faster server?

Hi,
I know late on the scene. Been on holidays, returned to find a new beta.
I had to disable http to be able to get up2date to work as well as access any site. 

Yes, I have sen the confirmed bug in v7.350. Now the rub, download the v7.360 update at 12kB/sec (I checked Firefox shows 12kB) will take over an 1h 30m, still has 1h 13m.

Is there a faster server for beta updates.

Interestingly the ASG network graphs show the external download speed as 500kb/sec and internal 150kb/sec
Appears as though the up2date server is faster then the manual download. The up2date server started after my manual download and finished about an 1 hr before.

    Yeah, some of the u2d servers are definately faster, than the public FTP.  Unfortunately the u2d servers can't be connected to manually as they require authenticated access.

    I found the u2d file from 350 to 360 was also uploaded to the main FTP site in the beta directory... I was also getting less that 15kb/sec on an 88mb file when downloading from the beta server... When I downloaded it from the FTP server [ftp.astaro.com/pub/beta] (at 255kb/sec) and then manually added the update using WebAdmin, it worked like a treat, and was updating in the space of a few mins.... :-)

    Not sure whether the developers will continue to be nice enough to post the beta updates on their main FTP server where there's clearly a large chunk of bandwidth available, but in this case at least - it proved to be a much quicker solution for me!

    Well, if it's not possible to throw more bandwidth towards the beta server when it's being slammed for updates, can I applaud you guys putting a copy in the beta folder of the main FTP site(s) because they seem to have MUCH greater capacity.  Maybe if there's another pushed release, you could mention to users where they can d/l a copy manually (ie: mirror sites) so they put it through Up2Date through the advanced section (only if they're having problems of course!).

    We actually offered torrents for late V6 and Early V7 releases, but since the number of seeds was always very low, the transfer speeds were actually much less than direct downloads. This was mostly due to the amount direct downloaders being consistently quite low. Hence we discontinued this distribution medium for now.
