[CONFIRMED] [7.350] PPP based connections may not come up after disconnect

Hi Guys,
I have install a virtual ASG to test new features of the 7.4, but now I have problems with the ADSL (PPPoA) Connection.After the reboot of the Astaro Internet Connection is working properly but after 5min i got this on
the ASG console:

 
unregister_netdevice: waiting for ppp0 to become free. Usage count = -1
unregister_netdevice: waiting for ppp0 to become free. Usage count = -1
unregister_netdevice: waiting for ppp0 to become free. Usage count = -1

After that there is no connection to the internet, i can't ping the internal ASG address and i can't connect to the Webadmin.

Thanks for noticing.

Can you please describe your configuration in a bit more detail? E. g. do you have ipsec enabled (side-to-side or roadwarrior) or the "Uplink Balancing" (Network -> Interfaces -> Uplink balancing) enabled?

I'm currently not sure whether this is related to https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/95/t/67015 or not, so we have to find out.

The symptoms are not the same as in my issue. And the cause of this problem is not obvious at all..

I could still access the WebAdmin after the unregister_netdevice message occured. Additionally, my problem was caused by a disconnect on the ISP's side and did not start out of the sky.

Hi Holger,

I have SMTP Proxy, HTTP Proxy, Site2Site VPN (2 Tunnels) and SSL Remote Access enabled.

My ADSL Provider (AON in Austria) uses a regular 8 hour disconnection.

I don't know if this happens when a disconnect occur. I will test this when I am back home.

Can you please try

It does not contain any fix, but includes some heavy debugging which might help to find out what is responsible for that issue.  Due to the heavy debugging please go on as follows:

1. install the kernel rpm (rpm -i ...)
2.  as there is lots of logging please increase the kernel log buffer size to 1 megabyte in GRUB (either at boot or in /boot/grub/menu.lst) by appending log_buf_len=1M to the kernel command line.
3. reboot the machine
4. reproduce the issue, then please

dmesg > log-data

as soon as you can after that issue occurred.  This might help to find the code which is responsible for that.

Hi Holger,

sorry but i can't do anything, because after 2min after the ASGBETA was started I got this messages and these things happen:

* no ping to ASG from a host
* no ping from the ASG to any host on the network
* after ifconfig and enter nothign happens (ifconfig hangs)
* no access to webadmin

Maybe this will help:

ASG is Installed as a ESX 3.5 VM with the same Config as the normal ASG, which means same ESX LAN Adapters and ASG Backup from the ASG 7.305.

Maybe I will install a new VM with ASGBETA and do the configuration manually (not restore an ASG.305 Backup).
